We don't realize it, but sometimes we can be our biggest enemy. So often we unintentionally self-sabotage things out of fear. No longer restricting himself as an artist, Dave Coresh start creating the best music ever in his life. All it took was for him to remove doubt from his mind.
With his most recent E.P., “SMOKENMIRRORS”, Dave shows he's reached a point in his life/career, to comfortably operate without fear. Even though he’s dropped music before which includes being in a band with rapper Vic Mensa, he elaborated on why this release felt so special to him than all the other ones.
“This my first project…this was my first attempt making the music I truly always wanted to make.”
Getting rid of the training wheels, we get to hear Dave when is in full force. This is why he titled the EP “SMOKENMIRRORS”. Realizing that he brings more to the table than just being a writer, this project is him proving to himself to he has more to offer. And he shows it on this EP. As much as he has changed as a person, so has his music. No longer just a rapper, he's expanded his palette to becoming a punk-rap star and he sounds great at it.
If there's any song on this EP that embodies the theme, it is for sure the intro, “NOBODY CARES”. Can you believe this song was made in only 20-minutes? During the creation of the track, he was overthinking every little step, and then it immediately clicked. “We came to the conclusion that nobody f*cking cares.” Once that was processed in his head, Dave was able to deliver. He didn't mind hurting any feelings in this song and did as he pleased over the chaotic production. If you enjoyed this project, make sure to tap in with Dave as he has more plans for the year.
