25 year-old Sighmon, out of Naples, Florida is an artist we have worked closely with over the past few years, that we think you are missing out on. Growing up, Sighmon was a "football guy" through and through and even went off to play Division III in college. But the transition from the football field to the music was a natural one for him. In college dorms, he started making beats on Akai’s MPC Essentials, later upgrading to FL Studio, which opened up a new world of creativity. What started as a way to make beats for his friends to freestyle over, turned into a journey of crafting entire songs. His early experiences laid the groundwork for a style that feels grounded yet experimental, with deep, reflective lyrics and a dynamic production.
Sighmon's latest project, "CAN YOU HEAR ME NOW?," is a personal exploration of communication, or rather, the lack of it. It's about feeling like you're putting your heart into something, that can be a message, a song, or even a relationship, but only to feel unheard. This project dives into different forms of expression that often go unacknowledged, touching on experiences with family, friends, relationships, and even finances. Each track on CYHMN? is a piece of Sighmon’s personal journey and experiences, crafted in his room as he tried to bind his production and writing to his raw emotions. Through this project, he hopes to inspire listeners to be more present, to actually hear the people in their lives, and to feel the music on a deeper level.
When it comes to musical influences on his sound, Sighmon pulls from artists who have left a significant mark on modern music. Tyler, The Creator, Frank Ocean, Mac Miller, J. Cole, and Dominic Fike top his list, each inspiring him in their very own way. Dominic Fike, especially, holds a meaningful place for Sighmon, not just as a musician but as a hometown inspiration for others in Naples, Florida. While he doesn’t listen to much "outside" music nowadays, he draws heavily from his friends’ sounds, which creates a community driven atmosphere around the creative process.
Outside of music, Sighmon finds peace in simpler pleasures, like spending time at the beach, skimboarding, and finding new food spots with friends. These moments allow him to recharge, keeping him grounded while fueling his creativity. This balance between creating music and enjoying life is essential for him, giving him a chance to reset before diving back into his work, helping avoid the burnout that so many end up facing in this rat race to success.
Reflecting on his journey in music thus far, Sighmon describes his most meaningful moment as realizing the importance of music as a personal outlet. For him, music is more than just beats and lyrics, it's a way to express what can’t always be put into regular words. Each song is a snapshot of his life, capturing emotions and experiences that define who he is as a person.
When asked if he could go back and give himself advice at the start of his career, Sighmon says he would tell himself to embrace change. The journey hasn’t always been easy, but learning to flow with life’s twists and turns has allowed him to grow both as a person and an artist.
