Being a native of the Chicago-land and looking up to guys like KAMI and the whole SAVEMONEY Team for that matter, watching them sprout from a similar point of origin onward to stardom provides for a holistic Vision this week.
Nigerian/Ghanaian heir, Mr. @superstarrrkami, dispensed quite a multi-faceted experience with “NOAH’S ARK”, a song released back in late summer---a recognizable difference from the singles he most recently greeted us with before then. A pending hiatus, plus the pandemic ensuing, briefly derailed his master plan to reorient himself and the fans with the music. Having just brought his legendary Chicago project Season, a collaboration with fellow SAVEMONEY emcee & Chicago veteran, Joey Purp (together make up the collective called by Leather Corudorys) to streaming platforms as the fans so desperately craved, momentum is picking up quickly for KAMI as he starts to introduce his narrative to a mass audience. “NOAH’S ARK” represents the first single from his forthcoming album (he wasn’t yet ready to give us a project name).
Through a biblical lens, “NOAH’S ARK” represents a story of adversity, or as KAMI would say “surviving the flood”. Objectively, the single can epitomize a lot of different things for a lot of different people. It's a mesmerizing, glitzy track where the artist shows his a** bit, revealing tribulations of his own, but the real story is living to see another day.
The video, directed by Alec Basse & Max Moore, which dropped Friday, was a vision KAMI carried of self-discovery. Often we find ourselves lost amongst our own thoughts, almost drowning in them. Low and behold the irony — he isn’t the most fond of the open water like that, but made due for an amazing personification of a lost man. The raft you see KAMI floating on is a prop of which they built by hand. He spoke about the enjoyment of the creative process, having a team help assemble and float the vessel off the coast of Chicago’s Lake Michigan. He jokingly noted, "It was mad cool. Kinda cold and like, I don't really f*ck with with water like that. I mean I can swim in a pool don't get me wrong, like I can swim. But I was just happy we was able to make that come to life."
Now, KAMI had even gone as far as to acknowledge the reckoning some may have that the song doesn’t match the video or the theme overall, but he is no stranger to challenging perceptions. At first listen, “NOAH’S ARK” provides an arousing feeling, leaving you restless, hardly able to sit still and not sing along with the “woah, woah, woah, woah”s, but a close second, to the lyrical content reveals KAMI having gone to war with himself, coming out on the other side the artist and person, he’s always wanted to be.
Again look forward to more singles and an impending project that will draw you to his rockstar world, wherever he desires to take it. Always listen for key themes and patterns with this dude, because there's subliminal revelations all throughout. For now, burn some rubber or get yourself out on a very fast boat, and enjoy "NOAH'S ARK" at high volumes, on all streaming platforms, plus he's got some dope themed merchandise on his page, hot off the press. Huge shoutout to @k5ine, KAMI's manager (whom he spoke highly of) & now close acquaintance of Aurision for setting this one up, along with contributing details. "NOAH'S ARK" is on this past week's Aurision's 18 playlist, which premiered off of @turntablettfm, which he too is a big contributor.
