Liam Mc Cay: Coming Into His Own

After the man of many monikers had accomplished 15 aliases, it was due time he released music under his given name and it truly is the most self realized accomplishment Liam has ever had the pleasure of giving the world. 

“This album is the realest and most me I’ve been, and it has bits of all my other music in it although Carson Clay & Take Care inspired this album the most of my projects.” Says the 21 year old musician who has truly shown us a range of sounds across his career thus far. Even with a short 28 minute project like Ardaravan Nights, Liam guides us through most of what he’s covered in the past and some new genres & lyrical concepts. 

“The films Adventureland & Waves were the biggest non-musical inspirations for the album” portraying the awkward innocence of a Jesse Eisenberg character as well as the emotional turmoil & love/loss the plot of an A24 drama experiences. The looming atmosphere of it all feels comforting yet haunted. 

Fans with a keen eye will notice previously released songs “Hoops” & “Stars” don’t make the final cut, providing his audience with even more experimentation in the cloud rap and indie space. “I’m not the biggest fan of single rollouts. If you want to make a single, make a single. If you want to put out an album, put out an album.” 

With newcomers in this multi-faceted scene popping up and dropping off on a daily basis, it’s nice to know that a pioneer like Liam is here to stay, no matter how many different names there may be. His iconic palette of noise is something only he can accomplish and with many years of artistry still left to go, as Ardaravan would imply, Liam has yet to hit the “height of the spade”.
