Nicknames Reveals the Skeletons in their Closet

Max Strite, known by his artist name "Nicknames" continues to flourish since his 2021 debut. From Washington, D.C., and currently a senior at NYU, this 21-year-old artist has been captivating listeners with his blend of pop and indie music, including the song titled "Go Big or Go Home" which helped him gain some traction. In his latest single, "Skeletons," Nicknames dives deep into the intricacies of new relationships, exposing the unspoken questions and emotions that come with getting to know someone intimately.

"Skeletons" is a poignant reflection of those initial moments in a new relationship when curiosity leads to a conversation about past experiences and former loves. It's definitely a universal scenario we've all encountered, and Nicknames' thoughtful lyrics and emotive delivery make this track highly relatable. We asked him what directly inspired the song, and he replied, "It's about when you start seeing someone new. You know that conversation of asking questions about their exes and learning about their past relationships. It's an important talk, but it can be a little awkward to revisit those feelings you know. This song is supposed to feel like a conversation about that."

Nicknames draws inspiration from a diverse range of artists, including Kate Bollinger and

Lucky, whose influence can be seen in his overall approach to music. However, sonically his

influences consist of Dreamer Boy, Role Model, and Dominic Fike (whom he is a big fan of).

Nicknames’ ability to blend personal storytelling with captivating melodies and production

makes "Skeletons" a promising glimpse into his creative journey.

As we anticipate another single to drop in October and an EP slated for release in December, it's evident that Nicknames is a talent on the rise, ready to connect with audiences through his music.
