The Sound of Early 2000s Revived in Lucky Me’s “Ms. Me”

The latest track “Ms. Me” from indie rock band Lucky Me is something that should be on everyone’s radar. I first discovered the band from their earlier single “Talkin” and have been excited for new music ever since. I first heard them perform the then unreleased song in an Irish pub in LA a few months ago (which was the coolest experience!) To me,”Ms Me” is like an early Franz Ferdinand track from 2004 accompanied with a “7 Nation Army”-like bassline.

Something about Lucky Me feels so familiar, yet fresh simultaneously. The group embodies the true NY indie sleaze/ Hedi Slimane/ Libertines era not only in their music but in their performances as well. If you’re ever lucky to be able to see them live, it’s an opportunity I wouldn’t pass up.

Aside from how catchy “Ms Me” is, my absolute favorite part of the song is the guitar solo. This part of the song feels so cinematic- like a chase scene in a movie. Overall, I think you should add this song to your playlists if you like the early 2000s tracks from bands like The Strokes, Interpol, the Libertines, and The Teenagers. I’m looking forward to more from this group and hopefully another LA show soon!
