Artist Highlight: Christian Alexander

Christian Alexander’s music feels like a quiet conversation with yourself - honest, unfiltered, and often landing right where it hurts. 27 year-old Christian is based in Preston, UK, where he grew up surrounded by the calm of the countryside. While his roots are rural, his sound is deeply emotional and introspective, shaped by years of quietly writing songs since he first picked up a guitar as a kid. He’s been sharing music online since he was 20, uploading to SoundCloud and YouTube with the hope that someone out there might feel the same way he does.

His latest release, “I Hate You, I Love You,” captures the tension that comes with overthinking, vulnerability, and the push-pull of emotions you can’t quite name. Christian says the song was born during a period of intense anxiety, those frustrating cycles of feeling good, then spiraling into doubt. He initially backed away from the track out of fear it would expose too much. But eventually, he returned to the studio with a new mindset. No more second-guessing, no filtering, just letting the feeling take the lead. That rawness is what makes the song hit so hard, it’s a release as much as it is a reflection.

After a stretch of living in London, Christian moved back to his family home in Preston, hoping to ground himself and find peace in the quiet of the countryside. That return to nature and familiar surroundings helped him reconnect with his creative instincts. Feeling lost in the noise of city life, being home allowed him to tap into something real again, something that reminded him why he started making music in the first place. It’s that balance of solitude and self-expression that continues to guide his work.

Musically, Christian draws a lot of inspiration from artists who wear their hearts on their sleeves. Right now, Bon Iver’s For Emma, Forever Ago and The 1975’s self-titled album are heavy in rotation, both known for their raw emotion and layered, genre-blending production. You can hear that influence in Christian’s ability to sit comfortably between vulnerability and the melody, creating songs that feel both intimate and timeless.

Outside of music, his escape is the golf course, something I myself can relate to quite a bit. For him, it’s less about competition and more about walking through nature with purpose. It’s a form of meditation, a peaceful space to think (or not think) between everything else going on.

If he could go back and tell his younger self anything, it would be simple - "just be yourself." It’s advice that seems to echo through every part of his process now, writing without fear, moving at his own pace, and creating music that feels like him. And that honesty? It’s what keeps us listening!
